For starters it should be noted that there will only be two Pixel devices this year. There were rumors about a possible third handset codenamed “Muskie” but apparently that has since been cancelled. That being said, here’s what the folks at XDA have revealed about the two upcoming handsets.
Starting with “Taimen” which is the Pixel XL 2, it is rumored to sport a 5.99-inch display with a QHD resolution. It is said to sport a smaller bezel than its predecessor which isn’t surprising given the trend these days. We are also looking at the use of the Snapdragon 835 chipset with 4GB of RAM, and a single-camera configuration.
As for the “Walleye”, the “regular” Pixel 2’, it will sport a smaller 4.97-inch display, but apparently its resolution will be FHD instead of QHD. Design wise apparently it will maintain the same larger bezels as its predecessor, but apart from that the rest of the specs are said to be similar to the Pixel XL 2. Take it with a grain of salt, but hopefully we’ll have the official details in the coming months.
