The OnePlus 5 has officially gone on sale and for the most part, the handset is still relatively affordable when you consider that other flagship handsets are priced several hundred dollars above it. However at the same time it isn’t exactly what one would call cheap either, but for our readers in Europe, not to worry.

It seems that over in Europe, OnePlus has launched a trade-in program in which customers can trade in an older phone or tablet when purchasing the OnePlus 5. They will then receive a cashback within the next 5 months that pretty much offsets part of the price of the phone. This isn’t an immediate trade-in where the value is deducted from the price of the phone, meaning that you’ll still have to pay the full price upfront, but ultimately you will get your money back.

So how much will you get? This will depend on your phone model and the condition it is in. For example an iPhone 7 Plus with 256GB of storage that’s in almost perfect condition without any damages and is fully operational will net about £300 in trade-in value. We wouldn’t exactly call that a lot and you might be better off selling it on your own and using the money to go towards the OnePlus 5.

However if you have an older device that’s lying around collecting dust and you want a way to get rid of it and maybe knock a couple of bucks off the OnePlus 5, we guess this could work. For more details head on over to OnePlus’ website.
