As the launch of its next flagship smartphone draws near with each passing day, OnePlus has started to hype up the OnePlus 5. It’s slowly revealing more and more information about the handset, just enough to keep people interested in its arrival. OnePlus co-founder and CEO Pete Lau has now claimed that the OnePlus 5 is going to be “the thinnest flagship smartphone.”
Details that have been officially confirmed previously include the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor which will power the handset and that the company is working with DxO to improve the handset’s imaging capabilities.
Lau revealed this on Weibo, China’s equivalent of Twitter. When translated, his post reveals that he believes the OnePlus 5 is going to be the thinnest flagship smartphone when it arrives.
It’s unclear whether Lau meant that it’s going to be the thinnest of all flagships available on the market now or if it’s going to be the thinnest OnePlus handset ever made.
He also pointed out that OnePlus didn’t have to make any compromises that affect the user experience in order to make the device as thin as it possibly could. That’s a promising claim by the company but one which requires real-world testing.
OnePlus is yet to confirm when its new flagship smartphone is going to be launched. Reports suggest that it might be unveiled on June 15th.
