With the launch of the Nintendo Wii, the company introduce games like Wii Sports Boxing that was clearly designed to show off the console’s motion-sensing controllers. Fast forward to 2017 with the launch of the Nintendo Switch, the company has definitely stepped things up by launching ARMS, a boxing game that is considerably more complex than Wii Sports Boxing.
Once again the game has been designed to show off the console’s Joy-Con controllers and how much more range and motion-sensing it has, and it looks like Nintendo has recently issued an update for the game (via Engadget) that will introduce support for LAN play, which should help Nintendo work towards their goal of possibly making ARMS a competitive eSports title.
Basically with support for LAN play, it should help make the game more stable during multiplayer mode. Sure, gamers can play together via split screen, but we reckon during competitive play players might prefer having the entire screen to themselves. Given that local wireless connectivity isn’t exactly the most reliable, LAN support should address those concerns.
In addition, the update will introduce Arena Mode which lets up to four players to join the lobby at once, where previous it was capped at a maximum of two players. The update should already be live so fire up your Switch and download it if you haven’t done so already.
