If you’ve been following the indie video game scene, you might have heard about a developer called Studio MDHR who have been developing a game called “Cuphead”. In case you haven’t, then the trailer above is one you definitely need to watch as it is essentially a hand-drawn side-scroller inspired by 1930s movies/cartoons.
Now the game was originally unveiled several years ago in 2014 which means that it has been 3 years since its unveiling, so the question is when will it see the light of day? For those who were worried about it being stuck in development hell, there is light at the end of the tunnel as developers have officially announced via their Facebook page that the game will be released later this year.
Cuphead will be released on the 29th of September where it will be available on the Xbox One, Windows 10 PCs, as well as Steam. There is no mention of pricing but we expect it should be priced similar to how other games are priced, but nothing out of the ordinary. It appears to be an exclusive to the Xbox One platform which explains why apart from Windows 10, there is no mention of it arriving on other consoles such as the PS4 or the Nintendo Switch.
We’re not sure if this will be a timed exclusive or if it will be a permanent exclusive, but for now if you don’t own an Xbox One or a Windows 10 PC, we guess you’d be out of luck, which is a bit of a pity considering how great the game looks (we can’t speak to its gameplay yet).
