Whenever Samsung launches their flagship Galaxy S series of phones, they usually follow up by launching variants of the handset at a later date. In the case of the Galaxy S8, we have heard rumors and seen some “evidence” that the Galaxy S8 Active will be the next variant of the series.
Now thanks to a recent sighting on Geekbench, possible specs of the upcoming handset have been revealed. The device in question that was spotted on Geekbench possesses the model number SM-G892A, and it appears to be powered by Qualcomm processors clocked at 1.9GHz. We’re not sure if there will be an Exynos variant, but the version spotted seems to be running Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 chipset. It also appears to be running on Android 7.0 Nougat
Unfortunately other than that we’re not sure what else to expect from the phone, although for the most part it should be packing the same hardware as the Galaxy S8, with the main difference being that it will be a more rugged handset, which in turn has fueled rumors that it will be losing its curved screen and will see the use of a more traditional flat screen instead.
We have also heard the rumors that the handset will be arriving for AT&T, although when exactly that is remains to be seen.
