Zuckerberg’s post reads, “As of this morning, the Facebook community is now officially 2 billion people! We’re making progress connecting the world, and now let’s bring the world closer together. It’s an honor to be on this journey with you.” In the comments he notes that Facebook originally hit the 1 billion mark back in October 2012, meaning that it took the company 5 years to double that figure.
According to Facebook, “This wouldn’t have happened without the millions of smaller communities and individuals who are sharing and making meaningful contributions every day. Each day, more than 175 million people share a Love reaction, and on average, over 800 million people like something on Facebook. More than 1 billion people use Groups every month.”
In celebration of this milestone, Facebook has announced that they will be sharing some personalized experiences over the coming days. One of those experiences comes in the form of a personalized video that you can check out here. Another would be in the form of thank you messages that you will receive whenever you react to a post with “Love” or wish someone a happy birthday.
