This means that users will now be able to pay each other back for money lent to each other or for meals, kind of like what we’ve seen other services and platforms offer in the past. However before you get too excited, know that there will be costs attached to this service should you choose to use it, especially if you plan on using it with a credit card, according to a report from Recode.
According to Recode, the new Apple Pay feature will be charging users a 3% fee should they use it with a credit card, and before you express your outrage, know that this is what the competition such as Venmo and Square Cash are charging their customers as well. Basically this 3% is not pocketed by Apple, but rather used to cover the overhead from credit card transactions.
However if you choose to use your debit card for payments, then there will be no fee attached, so that’s worth noting especially if you plan on taking advantage of it.
