Unfortunately Apple’s competitors aren’t too thrilled with them and over in Europe, Spotify and a handful of other companies are going after Apple with allegations of anticompetitive practices. This is according to a report from the Financial Times (paywall; via 9to5Mac) in which Spotify is accusing Apple and Google of abusing their “privileged position” at the top of the market.
Apple’s relationship with Spotify hasn’t been very good. The company has in the past accused Apple of rejecting the latest version of their app, and also criticizing the split of 85/15 which Apple offers to developers, where Apple will take a 15% cut from in-app subscriptions that are made through the iTunes App Store.
Apple (or Google) has yet to comment on these latest accusations leveled at them by Spotify and the other companies, but presumably should things take a turn for the worse and results in a lawsuit, we expect that Apple will probably comment then.
