Companies such as Sony and Microsoft have their own online gaming networks in which PlayStation and Xbox gamers can play multiplayer games (not together). In Sony’s case, it is the PlayStation Network (PSN) which seems to be growing because according to Sony’s latest figures (via VG247), PSN has hit 70 million monthly active users.
This is actually rather impressive especially when you think about the fact that this means at least 70 million players from all around the world are logged into Sony’s PSN and are playing games and chatting with each other on a monthly basis. To give you guys some context, Sony’s PSN is now boasting a higher monthly active user count compared to Microsoft’s Xbox Live.
Earlier this year in January, it was revealed that Xbox Live was playing host to 55 million monthly active users. We’re sure that the number has probably increased since then, although whether or not it has reached PSN levels or even higher remains to be seen, but until we see the official figures, Sony’s PSN is in the lead.
In addition to these figures, it seems that Sony is boasting how its PlayStation Plus service has managed to hit 26.4 million subscribers, up by over 6 million users from the year before.
