It was first reported back in January this year that PayPal was soon going to integrate its payment service with Android Pay. A few months later, an official announcement was made, confirming that PayPal would be integrated with Android Pay. Users of Google’s mobile payment service would be able to pay for their purchases using their PayPal account. The companies did say that it would take a while before the integration went live. Latest reports suggest that the PayPal Android Pay integration is now live.
Google has really been improving Android Pay over the past few months. Support for countless financial institutions has been added to enable more people to utilize the payments service.
The integration will enable PayPal users to link their account to Android Pay. They will then be able to use it to make payments at supported NFC terminals or when checking out in Android apps.
When the official announcement was made last month, Google said that it would take a few weeks for the integration to go live.
Users are now seeing the splash screen which informs them that the integration is live. Google has also updated the page for Android Pay’s supported banks and cards, it now mentions PayPal.
This is a great workaround for those who have been unable to use Android Pay because it doesn’t have support for their bank or card provider. All they need to do now is link their PayPal account with Android Pay.
