However OnePlus could be aiming for the premium market because in a report from Android Authority, they have heard that the OnePlus 5 could be the company’s most expensive handset to date. If their sources are accurate, the handset is rumored to cost as much as $650 which puts it on par with some other high-end Android flagships.
Apparently this has to do with the higher-end specs that OnePlus will be introducing to the phone, such as the use of a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset, 8GB of RAM, a possible ceramic and metal body, dual cameras (which was “confirmed” in a leaked photo), 128GB of storage, and (finally) the move to a QHD display.
If true it is possible that OnePlus could drive away some of their customers who stuck around due to the affordable handsets, but then again with such high-end specs, perhaps OnePlus could be looking to cater to a slightly different market.
