It has been rumored for a couple of years that Intel may launch a higher end variant of its Core processor family but one has yet to materialize. As we await the company’s next-generation processor family, we’re once again hearing rumors that Intel could launch a Core i9 variant with the upcoming family.
If a post on the Anandtech forums is believed, Intel’s next-generation processor family for enthusiasts, codenamed Basin falls, is presumably going to include both Kaby Lake-X and Skylake-X variants. The Kaby Lake models will be positioned at the lower-end of the spectrum while the Skylake-X variants will take the position up at the higher-end.
An image accompanies that post which suggests that there’s going to be a higher-end variant in this entire lineup which is going to include a Core i9 variant. No further information is available about this right now so it remains to be seen how this plays out.
There has been no confirmation from Intel about this just yet so we’ll have to wait and see whether or not it comes with out a Core i9 variant. It’s unclear at this point when Intel’s next-generation processor family is going to be launched. The company itself hasn’t confirmed anything about it so far.
