If you want to buy a luxury smartwatch, Montblanc is going to sell you one. Montblanc announced its Summit lineup of luxury smartwatches back in March this year. The company says that the high price tag is justified by the premium materials that have been used in the construction of this wearable device. Whether or not customers see it that way when they find out the price starts at $890 remains to be seen.
Montblanc’s Summit line of luxury Android Wear 2.0 smartwatches is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 2100 processor with 512MB of RAM, 4GB storage as well as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth support. They don’t have LTE or NFC which are quite common in high-end smartwatches now.
The company does try to make up for it by providing an e-compass and a barometer with the smartwatch. It’s more geared towards men as the smartwatch itself is quite bulky given that it has a case diameter of 46mm.
Montblanc has now made the Summit smartwatch lineup available for purchase in the United States. The price starts at $890. Mr. Porter will be exclusively selling it for two weeks and after that, the smartwatch line is going to be sold via Montblanc’s boutique stores across the globe.
