LG Pixel 3 Rumors Rubbished

It was reported yesterday that Google had picked LG to manufacture the Pixel 3 smartphone. There has been no confirmation or even a hint about this as yet from either LG or Google but the rumor mill took it up nonetheless. Google has seen considerable success with the Pixel and Pixel XL so it goes without saying that it’s going to release a new handset. Now we know, though, that it won’t be manufactured by LG.

A report from South Korean news outlet Chosun Biz claimed that Google was going to pick LG as the manufacturing partner for the Pixel 3 smartphone that will presumably be released in 2018.

It wouldn’t be surprising if this happened. Google and LG have worked together on several Nexus smartphones in the past, such as the Nexus 4, Nexus 5, and the Nexus 5X.

The report even quoted some industry experts who were of the opinion that LG may even help Google with manufacturing the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL smartphones that are due this year.

LG has rubbished these rumors, though. In a statement provided to Android Authority, the company says that the report from Chosun Biz is “speculation of the highest degree.”

This should be enough to understand that LG has no plans of working with Google on a Pixel smartphone, at least as it stands, whether or not something like this could happen in the future always remains a possibility.
