The best part is that it seems that the companies are planning on updating their existing line of products to make them compatible with Google Assistant and Google Home, which means that you won’t have to purchase brand new equipment if your current appliance is already supported with the upcoming feature.
This includes appliances such as fridges, ovens, washers, dryers, and so on. However before you get too excited at the prospect of being able to speak to your washer and tell it to start washing your clothes, users will still need a device like Google Home or their phone in order to communicate with their appliances, but basically with the integration of Google Assistant, the company plans on making it a one-stop shop, kind of like what the Home app is for iOS devices.
LG is expected to roll out support later this month, while GE has stated that support should have already begun rolling out.
