Microsoft made a surprise announcement at its Build developer conference today. The company revealed that it has been working with Apple to get iTunes listed on the Windows Store. It’s not like you can’t already install iTunes on Windows. Just head over to Apple’s website and download the package. However, having iTunes on the Windows Store is going to make the entire process a whole lot easier for users.
Microsoft announced during the Build conference today that the iTunes desktop app will soon be listed on the Windows Store. While it may not sound like an important addition to the Windows Store on the face of it, consider the fact that iTunes is one of the most frequently searched apps on the Windows Store, where it has never been listed.
It has also been confirmed that the app that will be listed on the Windows Store is going to have full iPhone support. Users will get an experience that’s similar to what they get from the existing iTunes for Windows app.
Microsoft hasn’t revealed any more details about this arrangement that it has reached with Apple, neither did the company show any screenshots of the upcoming app during the conference.
No word as yet on precisely when iTunes is going to be available for download from the Windows Store.
