This is according to a report from Redmond Pie, it seems that Apple could have a new app for iOS 11 and macOS 10.13 that will be based on the automation app “Workflow”. For those unfamiliar with Workflow, it’s an app that lets users automate certain tasks on their phones, making life a lot easier and efficient in the process.
The rumored app is said to be called “Automater” and will feature deeper integration with iOS and iCloud. It is also rumored that the app could potentially replace the Home app which allows users to control various HomeKit devices within a single app. Functionality will remain the same, instead what we can expect is a new app name and possibly a new UI and features.
Apple acquired Workflow back in March earlier this year. While Apple did not remove the app, it was revealed that the app would no longer receive anymore significant updates. We speculated that maybe the reason the app was kept around was so that users could get used to it and prepare themselves for Apple’s own version. In any case take it with a grain of salt, but Workflow currently exists as a free download so you can check it out if you’re curious about it.
