Instagram has rapidly been adding new features to its apps to enhance functionality for users. We’ve seen the Facebook-owned service add several new features over the past few weeks. It has made another feature-related announcement today. Instagram Direct, the service’s direct messaging platform, has received two new features today which include support for landscape and portrait orientations and web links.
Starting today, Instagram Direct has support for landscape and portrait orientations. Whenever users send a permanent photo or video in Direct from their camera roll, they no longer have to worry about cropping it. The photo or video will appear in the orientation that it was captured in, thus improving the viewing experience for the recipient.
Support for web links has also been added in Direct. Users can now share website links and the recipients will be able to preview them directly from the thread. Links for phone numbers and addresses are also supported.
Instagram Direct received a revamp in April this year. Since then, additional improvements have been made to this and Instagram vows to make further improvements throughout the year.
Support for landscape and portrait orientations is available on iOS today, Android users will get it soon. Website links are supported in Direct on both iOS and Android starting today.
