Galaxy S8 Active Image Leaked Online

It’s not going to surprise anyone if in a few weeks an “Active” variant of the Galaxy S8 lands on AT&T. Samsung has released more rugged versions of its flagship smartphones exclusively on AT&T over the past few years. This is why a Galaxy S8 Active is expected to be launched on AT&T in the near future. It appears that the first image of the handset itself may have been leaked online today.

The image was submitted to the Wireless Power Consortium and it may just give us a first look at the Galaxy S8 which may carry model number SM-G892A.

At first glance, it’s evident that the Galaxy S8 Active is going to have a thicker body to protect it against drops and shocks. It will be manufactured to the MIL-STD-810G durability standard.

It may also be the only variant of the Galaxy S8 that has a flat display. Both the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ feature a dual-edge curved Infinity Display which appears to be missing on the Galaxy S8 Active out of an apparent concern for durability.

The other specifications are expected to remain the same so it may feature the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage that the normal variant does. No word as yet on the battery capacity, though, previous Active variants have normally had a larger battery than their normal counterparts.

As always, expect the Galaxy S8 Active to be an AT&T exclusive when it arrives.
