Sony confirmed a few months ago that it’s making an Uncharted movie. More details about the project have now emerged. Sony Pictures is going into a completely different direction for the Uncharted movie. It has converted the movie into a prequel so we won’t be seeing someone as the Nathan Drake that we’ve seen in the games, we’ll actually be seeing a younger version of him.
The Uncharted movie was actually first announced back in 2009 but it never made. Some big names have been attached to the project over the years, including the likes of Robert DeNiro, Joe Pesci, and Amy Adams. However, the movie never entered production.
Deadline reports that Sony is making a prequel out of its Uncharted movie and that Tom Holland is going to be playing Nathan Drake.
For those who are unaware, 20-year-old Tom Holland is also the lead in the Spider-Man reboot, playing your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. This is actually Holland’s first proper outing as Spider-Man, he briefly donned the suit to play Spidey in last year’s Captain America: Civil War.
The inspiration for this prequel was taken from a sequence in Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception in which Drake and Victor Sullivan, his long-time friend, meet for the first time.
No script has been written as yet for the movie and it’s unclear right now who will be tasked with writing it. Shawn Levy will reportedly be directing the Uncharted movie. No word as yet on when the movie will hit the big screen.
