Destiny 2 PC Release Won’t Be Through Steam

It had long been rumored that the next Destiny title is going to be released for PC as well. Bungie officially confirmed this a couple of weeks back, it said that Destiny 2 is going to be released for PC as well as PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The developer has now revealed where the game is going to be listed for PC gamers. They’re not going to find Destiny 2 on Steam.

Blizzard president Mike Morhaime confirmed during the Destiny 2 reveal event today that Destiny 2 is going to be available for PC exclusively through Blizzard’s own Battle.net platform. Gamers will be able to use Blizzard’s service for exploring and downloading games as well as for connecting with fellow gamers through the friends list and chat features of Battle.net that work with Destiny 2.

Destiny 2 gamers on PC can look forward to 4K resolution support, full mouse and keyboard support with custom key mapping, uncapped framerate, an adjustable field of view, text chat, 21:9 monitor support, and a detailed PC settings screen.

Now we know that Bungie is not going to offer its new title through Steam. Those who want to purchase a digital copy will have to buy it from Battle.net as it’s not going to be listed elsewhere.

A retail copy of Destiny 2 is going to be offered to PC gamers as well but it’s highly likely that the disc version will require Blizzard’s client to run.

Even though it’s going to be available on all three platforms, Destiny 2 will get PS4-exclusive content at least until the fall next year. Destiny 2 is going to be released on September 8th for the aforementioned platforms.
