Canon Full-Frame Mirrorless Could Be Unveiled In 2018

While Sony might be slightly late to the camera game compared to the likes of Canon and Nikon, the company has quickly made up for time lost by pushing out cameras that are ahead of the competition. For example Sony launched full-frame compact cameras and even a full-frame mirrorless camera, prompting some professionals to make the switch.

However Canon is certainly not about to let Sony get too far ahead because according to a report from Canon Rumors, the company could be working on a full-frame mirrorless camera of their own. If their sources are right, it seems that Canon’s full-frame mirrorless is set for an unveiling at Photokina 2018, which means that we still have more than a year of waiting before we see it, or rather if we see it.

Some of the rumored features of the camera includes a native EF mount, a new exclusive image sensor (which means it won’t reuse Canon’s older full-frame tech), possible 4K video capture support, and the design is said to be a hybrid between DSLRs and current mirrorless cameras.

It has also been suggested that there will be no dedicated lens for this camera, so it’s different from more traditional cameras which typically separates full-frame lenses from crop lenses. Take it with a grain of salt for now as it is probably still quite early to tell which rumors are true and which are fake, but hopefully we’ll have additional information in the coming months.
