The company stated at that time, “Though we have tried to find a work around solution, thus far nothing has fallen within Apple’s HomeKit guidelines. All of this means that no current WEMO device will ever be able to work with HomeKit unless Apple changes its rules.” However the good news is that they have since had a change of heart.
Speaking to 9to5Mac, Belkin has announced that they have decided to support HomeKit and are committed to bringing support for the framework to their Wemo lineup of connected devices. “Wemo is committed to bringing HomeKit support to our line of smart home solutions and will be providing more details soon.”
We’re not sure how soon is “soon”, but with Apple’s WWDC 2017 coming up next month, there is a good chance we could learn more about it then, especially since WWDC is usually focused on Apple’s software, so remember to check back with us in the coming weeks for more details.
