Now whether or not a set of Siri-powered speakers will debut at WWDC 2017 remains to be seen, but according to a recently discovered patent by the folks at AppleInsider, it would seem that there are signs that Apple could be exploring such a device. Either that or the broad nature of the patent has lent itself to interpretation, like in this case a Siri-powered device that isn’t an iPhone.
According to the patent in question, it talks about an “Electronic device with radially deployed components”, and while the patent’s diagram certainly looks more like a Mac Pro than a set of speakers, AppleInsider notes various features that would be more suited towards a speaker, such as a microphone, touch displays, use of various sensors like an accelerometer, gyroscope, and more.
Now there is a chance we could be grasping at straws here, especially when you consider the fact that Apple has recently confirmed that they are rethinking the Mac Pro, so maybe this patent could be about a redesigned Mac Pro. In any case we’ll just have to wait and see, so check back with us during WWDC next month for the details.
