The post reads, “Beddit has been acquired by Apple. Your personal data will be collected, used and disclosed in accordance with the Apple Privacy Policy.” For those unfamiliar, Beddit is a company that makes a sleep sensor that can collect sleep data on its user and sends that data to an accompanying app on either the iPhone or the Apple Watch.
At the moment it is unclear as to what Apple plans to do with Beddit, although the company’s interest in sleep tracking isn’t exactly surprising. With iOS 10, Apple introduced a more advanced alarm clock that can help to monitor sleeping habits, but with the acquisition of Beddit, it sounds like Apple wants to further those plans.
We’re not sure if Beddit’s technology will ultimately end up inside the iPhone, the Apple Watch, or maybe even both, but don’t be surprised if future Apple products were to come with more advanced sleep tracking functionality. In the meantime Beddit’s sleep monitor can still be purchased via Apple’s Online Store for $150.
