A Universal Windows Platform version of the Skype app was released for PC and mobile last year with the Windows 10 Anniversary Update. The team today announced that it has now released this version of the Skype app to Xbox One with the Xbox One Creators Update. The team says that it has been working hard to create a TV experience that delivers the best possible Skype communications experience on the gaming console.
The Universal Skype app for Xbox One has been redesigned to put gamers first. The UI has a new look and feel which makes it simpler to use and lets users easily jump in and out of a call. The new dark look is easier on the eyes and similar to other Xbox apps from Microsoft.
Controller shortcuts have also been added which gives users quick access to Skype commands with a tap of a button. Moreover, a manual zoom option has been added which gives users control over the Kinect camera during a call, that’s a feature that many users had been asking for.
Those who already have the Skype app installed on their Xbox One will automatically get the new app. Those who don’t have it installed just need to search for Skype in the Xbox One app store and then they can download it.
The new app is live now and available for download. It will continue to be improved with new features down the line.
