Star Wars: Battlefront 2 Season Pass Won’t Be Offered

A season pass is often offered with most games which lets players access all of the post-release downloadable content without having to pay for it individually. There’s normally savings of $10 or more for those who purchase the season pass. Interestingly, one of the most highly anticipated games of this year is not going to come with a season pass. It has been confirmed that the Star Wars: Battlefront 2 season pass is not going to be offered.

The creative director of Star Wars: Battlefront 2 Bernd Diemer has confirmed that there’s not going to be a season pass for the new game. He said during a talk with Mashable ahead of the Star Wars Celebration 2017 event over the weekend that “We don’t have a season pass.”

This is a departure to how things were with the original Battlefront title that was released in 2015. The game itself cost $60 and was then followed up with four downloadable content packs priced at $15 each.

Now, this doesn’t mean that no post-release content is going to be offered for the new game when it does arrive later this year. There’s every possibility that map backs for Battlefront 2 might launch without a season pass but it may not happen given that the developer’s priority appears to be keeping the player base from being split up between premium maps.

Without revealing any more information, he added that “We have something different in mind that will allow you to play longer, be [more] invested in the game without having a fragmented community.”

More information about the upcoming game will be revealed in the coming months. Star Wars: Battlefront 2 is going to be released on November 17th later this year for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
