According to Powermat’s CEO Elad Dubzinski, “With the recent announcement by Apple that wireless charging will become a standard feature in the next iPhone, we are finally at the threshold of mainstream adoption.” Sounds like quite the confirmation, doesn’t it? However before you get too excited, Powermat has since backed down from its statements.
In a statement provided to Cult of Mac, a rep for Powemat said, “It’s all speculation at this point. We have no inside information. Sorry to mislead.” Whether or not they really were speculating or they’re just retracting their words is hard to tell, but assuming it is the former, it is possible that the speculation could have arisen from Apple joining the Wireless Power Consortium earlier this year.
In any case we’ll just have to wait and see if wireless charging will indeed be a feature offered by the iPhone 8m, but until then what do you guys think? Is wireless charging a feature you think has been missing from Apple’s iPhones?
