Microsoft has confirmed that it’s going to end support for the original release version of Windows 10, version 1507 to be precise, next month. Microsoft was actually supposed to do this on March 26th as part of its shift to the Windows as a Service model. However, it decided to delay ending support for this version and has now announced that it’s finally going to go through with this in May.
So what does it mean that it’s going to end support for this version? Microsoft points out that those who are still running Windows 10 version 1507 will no longer receive any security and quality updates after it ends support.
There’s a solution to this and it’s very easy. Just upgrade your PC to the latest version of Windows 10. You can do that for free and if you’re facing this problem, you already own a PC that’s capable of running Windows 10.
Those who don’t decide to update can continue using Windows 10 version 1507 on their PCs but they do that at their own peril because they will no longer receive any security updates which will protect them against the threats that lurk at every corner.
Users can upgrade to the latest version of Windows 10 for free by heading to Microsoft’s software download page and clicking on the “Update now” button. It’s as simple as that.
