Following the success of the OnePlus series of smartphones, it is widely expected that the company will be following up to last year’s OnePlus 3T with a new phone this year in the form of the OnePlus 5. In a post on India Today, it seems that they have gotten their hands on what appears to be a rendering of the upcoming handset.

The image you see above shows off the back portion of the phone and as you can tell, one of the more obvious changes and new features that OnePlus could potentially be introducing would be a dual rear-facing camera. Such technology isn’t new and we’ve seen quite a few OEMs adopt it, so this really shouldn’t be surprising.

The publication is also claiming that the handset will sport a seamless back cover and in case you couldn’t make it out, it seems that there will not be a rear-facing fingerprint scanner. What this means is either OnePlus will be turning to the use of a front-facing fingerprint scanner like with a home button, or they could be employing a fingerprint sensor embedded under the display.

Another possibility is that they might eschew the fingerprint scanner entirely for something else, or maybe just not have it at all, which would be disappointing. In any case take it with a grain of salt for now but this isn’t the first time we’re hearing about the OnePlus 5 and hopefully we won’t have to wait too long to find out the official details.
