However if that is the case, expect to potentially pay some exorbitant prices for them. As spotted by Kotaku Australia, it seems that the NES Classic Edition has been listed quite a few times on eBay where resellers are hiking up the prices by 40% or even higher due to the fact that they know these consoles will soon no longer be available.
The console if purchased at a store would only set you back around $60, but as you can see in the screenshot above, there are some users who have priced it as much as $400, which is more than 600% the original price! Now there is no guarantee that once the console has been officially discontinued that the prices will remain just as high. It could go higher or it might drop, but either way we reckon it’s not really worth it to pay so much, don’t you think?
That being said, there have been some indications that the discontinuation could be temporary as spotted on Nintendo Japan’s website for the Famicom Classic Edition, where Nintendo wrote that production had ended “for now”, and they would inform customers when production resumes.
