According to Samsung, the company revealed that pre-orders for the Galaxy S8 outpaced that of the Galaxy S7 (which was released last year) by as much as 30%, making it the company’s “best ever” launch of a smartphone. This was revealed by Samsung Electronics America president and chief operating officer Tim Baxter.
Baxter was quoted as saying, “The Galaxy S8 and S8+ are a result of that recommitment and the market has responded – with a more than 30 percent year-over-year growth in pre-orders versus the record pre-orders we had with Galaxy S7, making it our best ever.” So far reviews of the handset have been largely positive and it seems that the launch has pretty much put the Note 7 incident out of the minds of customers.
However there is the issue of some users complaining of a red tint on their displays, but it is expected to be addressed with a patch. Recently it was also suggested that the Galaxy S8+ variant could potentially outsell that of the “regular” Galaxy S8.
