Now if you’re seeing ads pop up for Nintendo Switch emulators, we should warn you guys that these ads are for fake software. In fact these ads are blatantly fake to the point where the FTC had to step in and issue a warning on its website where they are telling gamers to steer clear of such software.
According to the FTC, “Online ads for emulators, sometimes with Nintendo branding, say they can run Switch’s games on your desktop. But there is no legit Nintendo Switch emulator. It’s a scam. Even worse, when you try to download a Nintendo Switch emulator, you can install unwanted applications on your computer. These apps give you misleading information about computer problems that aren’t really there, then ask you to pay to fix them.”
The FTC notes that it seems that these ads and fake software are preying on how the Nintendo Switch might be hard to get at this point in time, and that they trick gamers into thinking that these emulators can tide gamers over until they buy the real thing. Basically if you see such ads, just know that they are fake.
