When it comes to testing out new features and designs for its mobile app, Facebook is pretty well-known for that as more often than not, users do see features pop up on the app that some of their friends might not have, and vice versa, only to have that feature disappear shortly afterwards.

That appears to be happening again, according to a report from Mashable who are reporting that there are some users (including themselves) who have noticed a new rocket icon inside the Facebook app. Clicking on the icon seems to load some kind of alternate News Feed where the content shown seems to be based on the user’s geographical location as well as posts that are relevant to the user’s interest.

It has been suggested that this rocket icon is Facebook’s version of Instagram’s Explore tab where users are shown posts based on their likes and based on their follows. It is unclear if this new section will become a permanent fixture or if Facebook is merely testing it out and that it won’t make the final cut, but we guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

If you don’t see the icon in your app, like we said this seems to be a feature that has been in testing for the past several weeks, so it might not necessarily have found its way to you, or if you’re just not in the group of users that Facebook wants to test the feature out on (yet).
