We have been seeing reports recently suggesting that DJI has a small drone in the pipeline. The company today sent out invites to the press for an event next month. It’s now expected to launch said drone at this event. From what we know right now, the unannounced DJI Spark drone is going to be smaller than the DJI Mavic Pro.
The DJI Spark drone will be more affordable as compared to the Mavic Pro which already does a good job of bringing down the price point for DJI’s customers. Leaked information suggests that the Spark is going to have fixed prop arms, a two axle gimbal as well as features like collision detection.
It may also have brushless motors like the DJI Mavic Pro. It’s also believed that DJI is going to ship the Spark without a controller so owners would have to use a smartphone to control the drone.
We don’t know how much the battery capacity is going to be but the range is likely to be limited like DJI’s other drones.
It’s unclear right now how much DJI is going to charge for the Spark. The cheapest drone that it sells right now is the Mavic Pro which costs $999. DJI’s event is going to take place in New York City on May 24th.
