DJI is one of the biggest names in the drone market. It has created some great products over the years and continues on its quest to shake up the drone market. It acquired a majority stake in iconic Swedish camera company Hasselblad back in January this year and their first proper collaboration on a product has resulted in an expensive 100 megapixel camera drone.
The companies are calling it “the first 100-megapixel integrated drone imaging platform,” it brings together an M600 Pro drone with a Ronin MX Gimbal and a H6D-100c camera. This product was announced at the NAB industry conference that’s taking place in Las Vegas these days.
The idea behind creating a product like this is to cater to the very high-end of the “landscape and fine-art photography.” It will also prove to be very effective in collecting data for surveying and mapmaking.
Its camera has a 53.4mm x 40.0mm sensor which allows it to capture images in exceptional detail even in low light conditions.
The M600/Ronin-MX/H6D-100c platform is currently being displayed at the NAB Show in Las Vegas through April 27. It’s going to be available for purchase in the third quarter of 2017. DJI has not confirmed pricing as yet but given that the M600 Pro drone costs $4,999 on its own, this product isn’t going to be cheap.
