As you can see in the photo above, the BeoSound Shape is definitely not your typical speaker, but that’s pretty much the goal that the company had in mind. These are speakers that are wall mounted, with each hexagonal tile representing individual components that can either represent an amplifier, smart hub, speaker, or acoustic dampers. They can all clip together to form patterns on your wall and with a variety of fabrics and colors to choose from, it’s almost like hanging an art installation in your living room.
The speakers will support a variety of wireless connections such as AirPlay, Chromecast, Spotify Connect, and Bluetooth 4.1. It will also work with Bang & Olufsen’s BeoLink system which means that if you own other Bang & Olufsen products, you could create some kind of multi-room setup.
In terms of audio, the speakers will support formats such as MP3, WMA (not lossless), AAC, ALAC, FLAC, WAV, and AIFF with sample rates up to 192 kHz, and stereo up to 24 bit. There are also USB-C ports, line-in, and ethernet connectivity for those who want something wired. As for pricing, the BeoSound Shape will not come cheap and a “standard setup” is expected to retail for a little over $4,000.
