Avatar director James Cameron had previously confirmed that the first of four planned Avatar sequels would be released in 2018 but he confirmed several weeks ago that this was not going to happen. Avatar 2 is not going to hit the big screen in 2018 as previously planned. He didn’t provide a new release date for the sequel but now the release dates for all four planned Avatar sequels have been officially confirmed.
In an update on the famous movie’s official Facebook page, it has been confirmed that the four planned Avatar sequels will be released in the December of 2020, 2021, 2024, and 2025. Clearly, we have a long way to go before this series is going to finish.
Concurrent production on all four sequels has begun and to be precise, they will be released on December 18, 2020, December 17, 2021, December 20, 2024, and December 19, 2025. This means that the sequel to the first Avatar movie is going to arrive 11 years after the original movie was released in 2008.
The first sequel was actually supposed to be released in 2014 but it was delayed to 2018. As previously mentioned, it was recently delayed from its 2018 release date again and now we know that it won’t be out until the very end of December 2020.
Fans will certainly be hoping that the wait is worthwhile in the end.
