For the most part users could only appreciate it on Apple devices, although last year Tumblr did roll out support for the feature on its platform. The good news is that if you wanted to share your Live Photos with more people, Apple has released an official Live Photos JavaScript API which basically allows developers to use the API to share Live Photos on a bunch of platforms, such as iOS, macOS, and even the web.
According to Apple, “This new JavaScript-based API makes it easy to embed Live Photos on your websites. In addition to enabling Live Photos on iOS and macOS, you can now let users display their Live Photos on the web.” If you’re not a developer, the takeaway from all of this basically means that in the future, there might be more apps or websites that will support the displaying of your Live Photos, so the feature won’t feel quite as exclusive anymore.
