Now back in 2016, the NFL and Twitter partnered up in which the league’s Thursday night games could be live streamed via Twitter’s platform. However that no longer is the case because for 2017, the NFL and Amazon will be partnering up and the league’s Thursday night games will now be streamable via Amazon Prime.
Naturally this means that those who want to watch the games will require an Amazon Prime subscription, but if you’re already subscribed then the good news is that these games will be free for you to stream. According to Recode, Amazon will be paying $50 million for 10 games that will be shown next fall, which is a huge leap from the $10 million that Twitter allegedly paid last year.
We know that Amazon is interested in getting more shows for its platform, and we’ve seen them do it with their own TV shows and movies, but save for acquiring Twitch, the NFL’s Thursday night games will be the company’s first foray into live streaming content.
