If you grew up playing FPS games, there’s a good chance that you might have played one of the several Quake titles have been released. If you have, then you might have also heard that Bethesda and id Software will be back with a new Quake title in the form of Quake Champions, and that the game will be entering closed beta soon.
How soon, you ask? In an announcement on Bethesda’s website, it looks like the closed beta will be kicking off on the 6th of April. What this means is that you guys have got a little under a week to sign up to be part of it if you are interested via Bethesda’s website, although there is no guarantee that you will be chosen to be part of the initial group of testers.
However Bethesda notes that more players will eventually be added to the closed beta over time, so you might get your chance later on. No word on when Quake Champions will be launched, but a release is being planned for later this year so we guess gamers will just have to wait. There was no mention of an open beta so for now, it looks like this closed beta is the only way that you’ll be able to try the game before the final release.
Note that Quake Champions will be be a free-to-play game in the sense that there is no cost to get your hands on the game. However if players want to unlock the entire roster of characters, then they’ll have to pay a fee to do so, otherwise they will only have access to pretty much just one character.
