Naughty Dog has brought us some great Uncharted games but is it going to continue to do that after Uncharted: The Lost Legacy is out? That’s “unlikely,” says the studio. Naughty Dog has said that it’s not likely that it’s going to create a new Uncharted game for the franchise. The Lost Legacy, which is a side story connected to the franchise featuring Chloe Frazer and Nadine Ross, is possibly Naughty Dog’s final contribution to the Uncharted franchise.
The last big game in this franchise was released by Naughty Dog in 2015 called Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. It concluded the adventures of Nathan Drake, the hero of this series. The developer then followed up that popular title with a side story that features the strongest female characters from this franchise.
Uncharted: The Lost Legacy was announced by Naughty Dog at the PlayStation Experience event last year. It tells the story of Frazer who first made an appearance in Uncharted 2: Among Thieves and was also present in Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception.
Nadine Ross, who featured in Uncharted 4, plays a role in the side story as well. The protagonists are on the search for an Indian artifact called the Tusk of Ganesh. The game itself takes place nearly a year after the events of Uncharted 4 in which Ross decides to give up the hunt for Captain Henry Avery’s treasure.
So about that new Uncharted game from Naughty Dog? Not happening. The studio’s co-president Evan Wells told Game Informer that “I would say that Naughty Dog doing an Uncharted after this is unlikely,” but does point out that “I would never say never, but we’ve got The Last of Us Part 2 on our plates and there’s so much other stuff that [we want to explore].”
Seems like it’s not that Naughty Dog doesn’t want to do another Uncharted title, it just has a lot on its plate to take up this challenge as well. “We really love the franchise, but the studio has limited resources and lots of other ideas,” Wells reiterated.
