This is also why it doesn’t really come as a surprise to learn that over in the US, the number of people who have Netflix installed is greater than those who own a DVR. In a survey of 1,211 households in the US conducted by Leichtman Research Group (LRG), they found that 54% of households in the US have Netflix installed.
This is versus the 53% that have DVRs installed at home. Granted Netflix has only edged out DVR installations by a hair, but considering that this is the first time that it has managed to surpass the technology, we guess it is still pretty big. This is versus a survey conducted back in 2011 where the disparity was much greater, where Netflix was at 28% and DVRs were at 44%.
In addition to this, the survey found that 64% of households were subscribed to some kind of video-on-demand service, like Netflix, Amazon Prime video, and/or Hulu, and that 23% of adults stream Netflix on a daily basis, an increase from the 6% back in 2011.
