Montblanc Summit Luxury Android Wear Smartwatch Starts At $890

Things are heating up in the luxury Android Wear smartwatch segment. Just a few days back, Tag Heuer came out with its second-generation Connected Android Wear smartwatch that touts a modular design and improved features. The Swatch Group has confirmed that its Tissot brand will launch a smartwatch running its own smartwatch operating system by next year. Now, Montblanc is entering the luxury Android Wear smartwatch game with the Summit.

Montblanc is a world-renowned maker of luxury goods, best known for its premium pens or “writing instruments,” the company also has a robust collect of smartwatches in both mechanical and Quartz movements.

The Montblanc Summit smartwatch has a 46mm case diameter so it’s a bit on the larger side. Even though it appears to have a digital crown, that’s actually a button. Under the hood, you’ll find a Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor with 512MB RAM, 4GB storage, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi.

It doesn’t have LTE or NFC so you instantly know that there are better and more capable options available on the market. However, it does have an E-compass and barometer that most smartwatches normally don’t. It’s powered by Android Wear 2.0.

Since Montblanc deals in luxury goods, you can expect this to cost a pretty penny. The Summit starts at $890 and the price goes higher when case and strap options are taken into account. Montblanc will start selling its new smartwatch from May this year.
