Back in the day when you purchased a game, you got everything. Sure, some games had monthly subscriptions for its multiplayer services, but that was pretty much it. However in recent years developers and publishers have figured out a new way to make money, and that is through the use of microtransactions.
Unfortunately this is a reality that many gamers cannot escape from and if you were somehow hoping that you might be spared from this in Mass Effect: Andromeda, you might be disappointed. According to UK retailer ShopTo, they have made references to what is being called “Andromeda Points” which will be used to obtain “Multiplayer Packs”.
The description of the feature reads, “Andromeda Points are an in-game currency for the Mass Effect: Andromeda Multiplayer mode only. These points can be purchased with real world currency and can be used instead of the earned in-game currency to obtain new Multiplayer packs, which contain items used in the Multiplayer mode.”
BioWare/EA has yet to confirm this particular feature but we wouldn’t be surprised if it is true, although we guess the upside is that it isn’t necessary to spend real money for multiplayer, but it might take gamers longer to grind out the in-game currency. In the meantime Mass Effect: Andromeda has been set for a release on the 21st of March, 2017 for PS4, Xbox One, and the PC.
