Apple is rumored to conduct an event later this month to unveil new iPads and possibly new iPhone models as well. The company hasn’t confirmed anything as yet but since it normally unveils new iPads in March it’s highly likely that an event will take place this month. According to a new report, retailer Target has instructed its stores to return several iPhone SE models to Apple by today. It’s apparently doing this in anticipation of the event.

MacRumors reports that Target stores have been instructed to send back six unlocked 16GB and 64GB iPhone SE models in Rose Gold, Gold, Silver, and Space Gray colors. Two Sprint models are reportedly on the list as well.

One anonymous Target employee mentioned in the report claims that her store has not received iPhone SE stock since even before the iPhone 7 was announced in September last year. There can certainly be more than one reason why Target has decided to send back some iPhone SE models, they might not be selling well, or perhaps it’s anticipating that a new model is going to arrive soon and wants to get rid of inventory before that.

Rumor has it that Apple could launch a 128GB iPhone SE model at its March event. Whether or not that ends up happening remains to be seen. At this point in time, we don’t even know when Apple’s event is going to take place, so sit tight until there’s some official information about this.
