Now the Pixel 2 has yet to be officially announced, let alone released, so we might be getting a bit ahead of ourselves with the Pixel 3, but the report claims that HTC is currently competing against the likes of LG, TCL, and Coolpad, who are allegedly some of the companies that are looking to build the 2018 Pixel phones.
However according to the report, they claim that LG mostly win the contract for 2018’s Pixel handsets, but they did not state why. LG has built some of Google’s Nexus devices in the past, such as the Nexus 4 and the Nexus 5, so for LG to return to building Google’s handsets isn’t really that much of a stretch.
It’s also interesting that companies like TCL and Coolpad are vying for that opportunity, but we guess it makes sense since building a prolific handset like the Pixel will help thrust them further into the spotlight. In the meantime this year’s Pixel handsets have allegedly been given the codenames “Muskie” and “Walleye”.
