Google Assistant Rolling Out To More Non-Pixel Handsets

A couple of weeks ago, Google announced that they would be making Google Assistant available to non-Pixel handsets, and for those who have yet to receive the update that brings the voice assistant software to their phones, not to worry because according to 9to5Google, it looks like the rollout is happening on a wider scale now.

While we’re not sure how Google chose which handsets to push out the update to at the start, it seems that a variety of brands and models are now receiving the update. This includes the Samsung Galaxy S7, the LG V20, the Huawei Mate 9, and the Huawei Honor 6X, just to name a few. Recently it was reported that the OnePlus 3 received an update that introduced Google Assistant to the phone.

It is rather interesting that Google is pushing out Google Assistant to Huawei handsets, especially after it was reported that Huawei would be bringing Amazon’s Alexa to its handsets, such as the Huawei Mate 9, but we guess users will at least have some options to choose from depending on which platform they think works better.

As Google noted previously, the rollout will take place over the course of the next fews, so if you haven’t gotten it yet not to worry. In the meantime it seems that Google isn’t closed to the idea of potentially bringing Google Assistant onto iOS devices either.
