Naturally this has resulted in a bit of friction amongst players who own it and players who don’t, but this is a problem that the folks at DICE are hoping to address. This is also why they have announced a new program in the form of “Premium Friends”, a program where they hope to bridge the gap and provide a good experience to everyone.
According to DICE, “When creating a party in Battlefield 1 you may notice something new: if someone owns a Battlefield 1 Premium Pass the party will become ‘Premium Enabled’. This will allow anyone in that party to play on all maps, regardless if they own the content or not. The access is available as long as the party is ‘Premium Enabled’.”
Unsurprisingly there is a downside and that is only those who own a Premium Pass will be eligible to earn XP from the maps, although the upside is that XP will be saved for non-Premium Pass holders where if they do upgrade, the XP will then be applied retroactively. DICE will be testing out this new feature come 30th of March during Battlefest, so do check it out if you’re interested.
